On The Issues

Public Safety

Public Safety continues to be my top concern.  Strong neighborhoods make a strong city; and our police department has excelled in protecting and connecting with our citizens.  With your continued support, I will ensure our police are provided with best equipment and training, but will also work to determine if creating our own force is in your best interests.

Road Improvements

Upgraded roads and bicycle connections are key factors to the future well being of our city.  During my term as mayor in 2009, the city secured local and federal funds to resurface Coloma Road and initiated the International Drive Bridge extension to Sunrise Boulevard.  These key projects will improve connectivity, reduce backups, and ensure that Rancho Cordova’s jobs center remains a place where Fortune 500 companies can continue to call home.

Fiscal Responsibility

A balanced budget sends many messages about the overall health of a city.  During my tenure on the council, we have passed seven consecutive balanced budgets.  Where other cities have failed in this regard we have succeeded.  In fact, during the same period of time, our Bond rating has improved 2 letter grades to AA – this is important because we can secure loans at better terms, which means our ability to repay those debts can occur faster.  With your continued support, I will monitor this situation closely, and always emphasize the need for the city to never spend more than they make.
